Custom Sizes

Custom Sizes: Availability and Process

In the following weeks custom sizes will become available for a selection of styles. This feature will roll out gradually, and not all styles will offer custom size options.

Currently implemented:

-Flared jeans

Use Cases

Custom sizing allows adjustments to specific measurements and proportions for a more personalized fit. Width, length, and subtle details such as angles can be modified. Example:

-Lengthening or shortening pant legs or jacket sleeves
-Achieving in-between sizes
-Adjusting for wide or narrow shoulders or hips (to a certain extent)

These adjustments allow for fine-tuning the fit while preserving the garment’s original design and aesthetic. Different styles will have different adjustment options.

Limitations

Custom sizing is not intended to transform the style of a garment or intended use case. For example:

-Skinny fits will not become oversized.
-Baggy styles will not become tight.
-Low-rise designs will not become high-rise.
-Jackets will not become Coats.
-Knits will not become woven styles.
-Menswear designs will not incorporate bust darts
  or a female waist-to-hip ratio.
-Adult sizes will not become kids' sizes.

Adjustments should preserve the overall look and feel of the style. It’s important to understand the difference between body measurements and garment measurements and to make balanced, reasonable adjustments.

Examples for common misconceptions

Waist Measurement
The waist is located roughly 1 inch above the navel.

Body vs garment measurements.

Waistband Fit
The waistband of pants will not match your exact body waist circumference. For any pants sitting below the waist, the measurement will gradually increase towards the hip circumference. Even for high-rise pants, sitting directly in the waist, you need at least 1.5" or 4cm extra ease in total to be able to move. Otherwise you cannot sit down, let alone, eat a meal.

Oversize look
Choosing a larger size does not guarantee an oversized look. For example, a size M in an oversized style is designed and shaped differently from a very large size in a regular style, even if the measurements are similar. A larger size may provide a relaxed silhouette, but it won’t replicate the intended oversized aesthetic.

Perfect Fit in All Positions
Only 4-way stretch materials (like those used in leggings or bodysuits) can provide a perfect fit while standing, sitting, or moving. Regular woven fabrics require a balance to accommodate movement, which will result in creases when standing. These creases are normal and should be distinguished from actual fitting issues.
